Penki TV presents a cycle of films introducing the work of the world’s famous artists

To strengthen intercultural cooperation between Lithuania and Belarus, Belgazprombank OJSC provides the viewers of Penki TV channel with a unique opportunity to see a cycle of eight films “Belarus-Born Artists of the School of Paris. From the Corporate Collection of Belgazprombank OJSC, Museum and Private Collections”. These are films by Belorussian directors Oleg Lukashevich and Aleksandr Alekseyev dedicated to the world’s famous artists such as Marc Chagall, Chaim Soutine, Michael Kikoine, Fernand Leger and others.

When talking about these artists and their work, Chairman of the Board of Belgazprombank OJSC Viktor Babariko said: “Currently, the bank’s collection includes pieces of art by 11 eminent Belarus-born artists of the School of Paris. Representatives of this school managed to change the world with their work. Our bank shares the same ideology: to shape the world so that it is the way it should be and the way we want to see it. And it is in our power to define what the world is like today and, more importantly, what it will be like for our children and grandchildren.”

On November 30 (Sunday) at 8 p.m. Penki TV invites its viewers to enjoy the first film in the cycle “Marc Chagall. The Colour of Love”. This half-hour film is dedicated to one of the most prominent artists of the twentieth century, Marc Chagall (1887-1985). The film is based on written sources of the author’s biography, knowledge and insights of art historians, collectors and experts. The directors also managed to interview the artist’s relatives who had revealed a number of interesting facts about the artist’s personality, life and work.

Creative team of the two-year project diligently studied the archives kept in Belarus, Russia and France. Many of the materials shown in the film will be presented to the audience for the first time. For example, the only image of Marc Chagall prior to his departure from the Soviet Union in 1992 that was found by chance in the State Archive of Documents of the Film and Photography Foundation of Belarus.

The cycle of films “Belarus-Born Artists of the School of Paris” is part of a project supported by Belgazprombank OJSC, implemented with the aim of introducing people to the work of eminent artists and shedding light on their creative path. September 11 through November 9, Vilnius Picture Gallery for the very first time presented an exhibition with the same name, which included paintings, graphic works and sculptures by Belarus-born artists of the School of Paris of the early twentieth century.
