Penkių kontinentų komunikacijų centras (a member of the Penki Kontinentai Group), providing Internet and IPTV services Penki, has joined the Memorandum on Clean Internet Environment of Lithuanian Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA). The purpose of this initiative is to encourage service providers to follow the principles of accountability and efficiency when eliminating the forbidden content. The Memorandum sets out how providers work to create a cleaner online environment.
According to Laurynas Šeškevičius, director of Penkių kontinentų komunikacijų centras, the decision to join this initiative should be understood not only as part of the company's social responsibility but also as an important preventive step in the fight against online crime.
“We are pleased to contribute to creating a clean online environment. In many daily activities, such as work, study, or leisure, we must remain socially responsible by going online. We strive to ensure that Penki and ProfIT users have access to clean content, and prohibited information would be promptly limited,” Laurynas Šeškevičius says.
The CRA calls on all Lithuanian information service providers to join the Memorandum. By signing this document, service providers commit to cooperate with the CRA in the process of creating a clean Internet environment and control access to confidential information.
The Clean Internet Memorandum defines principles, encouraging the information providers not to publish forbidden information, sharing best practices and knowledge. Internet service providers that have joined the Memorandum are more responsive to CRA instructions to restrict prohibited content on their servers, thereby reducing the risk of inappropriate information reaching users.
