The Chechen insurgents, who managed to cross two days ago the Ingush section of the Russian-Georgian border into Georgia, are now planning to filter back into Azerbaijan or Turkey, reported ITAR-TASS citing the Georgian TV.
According to the intelligence information received from the Dushetskii area, the rebels told local residents of the mountainous villages they usually buy food from about their plans to leave to Azerbaijan or Turkey. Thus far the insurgents have not reacted in any way to the ultimatum by Georgian authorities calling on them to disarm. In the meanwhile, the security forces managed to completely blockade the rebels Saturday.
The group is approximately 60-80 people strong. Authorities are currently transporting to the area more units of the Interior ministry troops as well members of the counter-terrorist center of the State Security service.
