Čmilyte - the second at Blitz

European championship at Rapid and Blitz chess among women was held in Minsk, 2-7 of October 2001. Rapid championship ended on the 4th of October and, as it was already mentioned, international grandmaster Viktorija Čmilyte (rating 2464), who was representing Lithuania in this championship, was the third. Blitz tournament was held from the 5th till 7th of October and Viktorija won the second place here. There were 44 participants and they were playing 20 double rounds, 5 minutes were allotted for a game. The first prize was won by international master Alexandra Kosteniuk (rating 2445) from Russia.
