The official web site for the European Championship for Cadets is now online at www.eurobasketrivas.com
The Championship begins on Friday 18th July in Madrid, Spain and finishes on 27th July. Current champions are Serbia and Montenegro who won the 2001 tournament in Riga, Latvia. Serbia and Montenegro defeated Russia in the final led by 13 points and 16 rebounds from a 16-year old Darko Milicic. Milicic has of course since been selected by the Detroit Pistons as the 2nd pick in the NBA draft and will begin his rookie year in November 2003.
The qualified teams for the Championship are:
Group A
Bulgaria, FYROM, France, Lithuania, Russia, Turkey.
Group B
Greece, Israel, Italy, Slovenia, Spain, Serbia and Montenegro.
