The International Olympic Committee (IOC) today confirmed that the Disciplinary Commission, set up by President Rogge yesterday to investigate the nature and circumstances of alleged anti-doping rule violations committed by Mr Konstantinos Kenteris and Ms Ekatarina Thanou, met today at 12:00 at the Hilton Hotel in Athens. A delegation of four people chaired by the Chef de Mission of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Mr John Papadogiannakis, came with the request from the athletes that the hearing be postponed and presented medical certificates that explained the athletes will not be able to attend the hearing before 48 hours. In order to ensure a fair process and give due consideration to the athletes, the Disciplinary Commission has decided to postpone the hearing until Monday 16 August. Modalities
- the athletes may be accompanied or represented at the hearing by a maximum of three persons of their choice (lawyer, doctor, etc.)
- the President of the International Federation concerned, in this instance the IAAF, or its representative, is also invited to attend the hearing
- after the hearing, the Disciplinary Commission will be responsible for presenting a report and recommendations to the IOC Executive Board, the body which has the authority to take a decision on such cases.
- the IOC Anti-Doping Rules applicable in relation to the Athens Games.
