On the eve of the U.S. presidential election, a bittersweet appearance in Charlotte, North Carolina, for Democratic candidate Barack Obama. Madelyn Dunham - died at her home in Honolulu, Hawaii at the age of 86 - after a battle with cancer. Republican presidential candidate John McCain and his wife Cindy offered their condolences to Obama and his family.
