The Taliban says it was responsible for killing ten French troops in Afghanistan in August. A Taliban commander identified as Mullah Farouq urges France to withdraw its forces or face further bloodshed closer to home. French President Nicolas Sarkozy sent another 700 troops to Afghanistan this year in response to U.S. pleas for more help in fighting the resurgent Taliban.
