A company “Ashburn International” has signed an agreement with UAB DK “PZU Lietuva” on the installation of payment terminals with a barcode scanning function. The first such terminal has already been installed and, by the end of July, it is planned to install more terminals in other units of the insurance company as well.
This new technical solution allows a customer of the insurance company to pay for an insurance policy by a payment card, and the insurer – to read the data of the insurance policy from a barcode. This is done by a barcode scanner connected to a bank card reader. The amount decoded by means of a barcode is automatically shown on the screen – the customer simply has to enter a PIN code and confirm the amount. Moreover, at the end of a working day, the insurance company is provided with a report containing the necessary data decoded from barcodes. Insurers import it into their accounting system.
When presenting this solution, Payment Card Service Network Development Manager of “Ashburn International” Emilis Uldukis said that the completed project will allow the insurance company to service its customers as well as organize the scanned data more quickly and conveniently.
“After the installation of payment terminals with a barcode scanning function, UAB DK “PZU Lietuva” employees no longer have to enter the payable amount to the terminal by hand – the system does it for them. Therefore, unnecessary mistakes will be avoided. Moreover, the amount paid will be automatically attached to the required insurance policy in the system – a lot of manual work is no longer necessary and the likelihood of mistakes is reduced”, says E. Uldukis.
Incidentally, this technical solution is versatile and can be applied in all companies which are interested in convenient and efficient scanning of data from a barcode as well as automatic systematization of the data in their accounting.
Company “Ashburn International” owned by a group of companies “Penki kontinentai” has been providing services of payment card maintenance, installing e-commerce solutions and loyalty systems for more than a decade. The company’s management services of payment card operations meet the top-level international card data security standard PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard).
