A museum for emeralds in Colombia

Part of a new emerald museum in Colombia, the exhibit recreates a mining scene common in rural areas, where the gemstone is extracted with pickaxes and dynamite.

 

Colombia is the world's top producer of emeralds.

 

Some specimens in the privately-funded museum are valued as high as $20 million.
