Penki kontinentai group participates in DUOday for the third year

Published: 25 May 2023 y., Thursday

The Penki kontinentai group of companies has joined the initiative of the social employment agency SOPA ''DUOday'' for the third year in a row. Its goal is to enable people with disabilities to integrate into society to try themselves in various professions. A disabled person and an employee of the host company spend one working day together, forming a duo (DUO), getting acquainted with the company's activities, and trying different tasks.

Kestutis joined our team this year, displaying no fear towards diverse tasks. He participated in the DUOday initiative for the first time.

Kestutis toured the office of Penki kontinentai, familiarized himself with the extensive activities of the group of companies, and later stayed to help Marius, the head of economy division. Together they cleaned the area near the office and trimmed the bushes.

After visiting the recreation sites and the Penki kontinentai library, Kestutis said he enjoys reading historical and religious books and listening to music.

Although DUOday only lasts one day a year, such an initiative may have a small impact. People with disabilities can try the profession of their dreams, and we have the opportunity to get to know their abilities better. This day not only brings positive changes in the lives of hundreds of people with disabilities but also changes how we all think about the diversity of people in the labor market.

More than fifty companies from 18 Lithuanian cities have joined the DUOday initiative this year. The Penki kontinentai Group is proud to be one of them. The group of companies strives to promote the integration of people with disabilities into society as often as possible – it constantly supports the Lithuanian Association of People with Intellectual Disabilities ''Viltis'', participates in events together, supports the ''Kavos giotis'' work experience initiative, during which young people with disabilities prepare coffee and serve it to employees. The BS/2 group of companies has developed a software solution that adapts ATMs to the needs of the blind and visually impaired.
